Finding a good aircon tech in a Brisbane summer is hard work. Calls go to voicemail. Call-backs don’t come. Someone books a quote visit and doesn’t turn up. When the quotes do arrive, one’s for a 2.5 kW unit, one’s for a 3.5 kW and one doesn’t mention the circuit at all. And somehow you’re meant to work out who’s actually licensed.

What we check before a tradie gets your job
Nobody gets your job until they’ve been through this:
- ARCtick refrigerant handling licence verified on the public register
- Queensland electrical licence verified, whether they hold it or work with a licensed electrician
- QBCC licence checked where the job needs one
- Public liability insurance sighted
- Local to North Brisbane and Moreton Bay, not driving in from across town
- Track record and reviews checked
- Upfront written quotes that spell out what’s included: pipe length, brackets, circuit and isolator

How we choose who gets your job
Not every good installer is right for every job. A ducted retrofit in a Bridgeman Downs two-storey needs a different person from a back-to-back bedroom split in Aspley or a café fit-out in Brendale.
So we match on three things: the type of job, your suburb and who’s available. You get one installer who does that kind of work and covers your area, not a list of names to ring through.
Who does the work, and what it costs you
We choose who does the job; the installer does the job. They quote you directly, and if you go ahead your contract is with them. They work under their own business, licences and insurance, and they’re responsible for the workmanship, compliance with the relevant standards and any workmanship warranty. Equipment warranties come from the manufacturer.
Using us costs you nothing: no fee, no sign-up and no obligation to accept the quote. We’re paid by the installers we work with, not by you.
You’re always welcome to ask an installer for their licence numbers and check them yourself. If you have a problem with an installer we sent, tell us. We want to hear about it, and installers who don’t measure up get dropped.

What if the tradie isn’t right for me?
No worries. Maybe the quote doesn’t suit, the timing doesn’t work or you just didn’t click. Tell us and we’ll line up another installer who suits the job. There’s no obligation to go ahead with anyone, and it doesn’t cost you anything either way. We also want to know if an installer didn’t call back or didn’t show, because that’s how we keep our list sharp.
Why one installer instead of a handful?
Because juggling quotes that don’t line up is half the headache. One quotes a 2.5 kW unit, the next a 3.5 kW, and the third leaves out the circuit. We do the hard part before you ever need us, by vetting installers up front, then send you one who suits your job and quotes upfront in writing. If they’re not the right fit, we’ll line up another.
Do I pay you anything?
No. Using Air Conditioning North Brisbane is free for you. You only pay the installer, and only if you accept their quote and book the work. There’s no membership, no sign-up and no catch in the fine print. We’re paid by the installers we work with, so the service costs you nothing.
Who is responsible for the work?
The installer. They quote you directly, you contract with them, and they do the work under their own business, licences and insurance. They’re responsible for the workmanship, compliance with the standards and any workmanship warranty. Equipment warranties come from the manufacturer. Our job is choosing the right installer; theirs is doing the aircon properly.
Can I check the installer’s licence myself?
Yes, and we encourage it. Ask for their ARC refrigerant handling licence number and their Queensland electrical licence number, then look them up on the public registers. We check these before an installer joins, but a good installer won’t mind you double-checking. If anything doesn’t match, tell us.
